Associate Civil Estimator

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Associate Civil Estimator to join our New South Wales team.  Working closely with senior leadership, you will play a critical role in estimating and advisory services across major infrastructure sectors including roads, rail, water, ports, energy and mining.

You will be responsible for delivering estimating services across the full project lifecycle, from early-stage strategic advice through to detailed first principles estimating on complex, multi-billion dollar projects.

As part of our national infrastructure team, you will deliver high quality technical work which influences successful project outcomes, develops and strengthens client relationships and contributes to business growth.

Key aspects of this role include:

  • Preparing and reviewing estimates across all project stages, including parametric estimates, order of magnitude estimates, benchmarking, cost planning, and detailed first-principles estimates.
  • Leading risk- based estimating activities, including P50/P80/P90 estimating, quantitative risk analysis and contingency development.
  • Integrating estimating with scheduling, logistics and supply chain analysis to improve project outcomes and estimating accuracy.
  • Leading and contributing to project teams, mentoring and developing junior employees, building estimating capability and sharing best practice.
  • Supporting business development activities including tenders, proposals and client engagement initiatives.

What Does the Right Person Look Like

With a technically strong and commercial mindset, you will thrive in a collaborative environment. You’ll bring advanced estimating expertise delivering complex and high value projects with experience gained within infrastructure sectors such as transport, water, energy, mining or major civil project.

With strong capability in first principles estimating, cost planning and benchmarking, you’ll bring demonstrated experience in risk and probabilistic estimating, including P50/P80/P90 analysis and contingency modelling. A background in earthworks and civil engineering will be favourably looked at.

With experience working across the full project lifecycle from concept planning to delivery, you will you will bring effective stakeholder management skills, and strong analytical, problem-solving and communication capabilities.  

With relevant tertiary qualifications in civil engineering, quantity surveying or construction management or similar, you will be driven by your ongoing professional development through industry memberships, accreditation and certification pathways such as Engineers Australia or other similar bodies.
